Punk or not to punk , that’s the question
Op een woensdag hebben we een showcase van het Frontflip label. Een band uit Italie met als support de Haagse band Drunktank. Dat wordt een avondje raggen.
Bedtime for Charlie are a punk rock band from Rome, Italy.
The story probably starts out as any other story of any other band of any other place and time: Bedtime was born back in 2001, with a different name, a different line up and a completely different sound, strongly influenced by the Italian punk scene of that period and, of course, just fucking terrible.
…don’t ask us about the Teddy bear tattoo, or we’ll have to show you. But we probably would anyway.
In 2012, Bedtime for Charlie finally give birth to a brand new record. “Bright Light City Skyline” is the product of three years of tours and musical experience and represents a huge improvement style-wise and under the songwriting aspect. 12 intense and polyvalent punk rock tunes make it the record of the band's definite maturation, songs like “Swim with the Sharks”, that anticipates the release with a video on the beach produced by Pitvision productions, the singalong hit “The Snake”, the melodic hardcore of “Collide”, the anthemic “Throwing life Away” and the ballad “Lockjaw”. “Bright Light City Skyline” is released by the italian label No Reason Records, which worked with bands such as Antillectual, Atlas Losing Grip, Astpai, Rentokill and This is a Standoff, and the german label Fond of Life Records, and is immediately supported by a month and a half long tour in Eastern Europe.
It still is about the music, after all.
DRUNKTANK
Het in 2003 in Den Haag gevormde Drunktank maakt een combinatie van melodieuze, snelle, meezingbare 90's skatepunk in de traditie van Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords en Burning Heart bands, gecombineerd met riffs en gitaarharmoniën uit de 80's metal.
Na het uitbrengen van vier EP's werd in mei 2010 het eerste full-lenght album "The Infamous Four" uitgebracht. Dit 10 nummers tellende schijfje werd in eerste instantie uitgebracht bij platenlabels in Nederland, België en Denemarken.
De reacties op en recensies van het album waren overweldigend, waardoor de band in een stroomversnelling terecht kwam. In september 2010 werd een speciale Japanse editie uitgebracht met vier bonustracks. Door diverse distributiedeals is het album wereldwijd verkrijgbaar. Momenteel werkt Drunktank aan materiaal voor een nieuw album.
