The Hellies - Demo 2006

Wanna try a new Belgian band on? Well, The Hellies hailing from the beautiful East of Flanders are all about 3-chord punkrock with a serious Ramones injection. This demo is their first recording. This three-piece has been playing gigs all over the place and are on a serious roll right now. Singer/guitarist Annie Hellie has a cool voice and makes The Hellies stand out from the rest of the bunch. Of course this is a demo and it sounds like a demo. So don’t expect a huge sound or anything, it’s all very simple and honest and that makes it so damn cool. There’s still some work to be done, the intro of ‘Bad day’ could’ve been done in a different way, but hey… ‘IT’ is a killer song! It got me singing along pretty quick (all of the songs in fact). I really hope The Hellies are gonna record something professional in the near future and send it out to lot’s of labels, you know you might get lucky someday… I recommend this 4-track demo to everybody who supports their underground punkrock and loves a Ramones, Groovie Ghoulies kinda sound. The Hellies are definitely making their mark on the Belgian scene! Keep it up boys and girl!
