kill your idols stoppen er mee

3 december 2006
De jongens van kill your idols hebben besloten om na elf jaar trouwe dienst ermee te stoppen ze zullen nog wat shows spelen met forward to death maar das helaas in amerika hier een verklaring van hun label Kill Your Idols last show... As of October, Kill your idols has officially announced that they will be calling it quits in the summer of 2007. They will be playing some final shows in the north-eastern United States some time in June or July. Their LAST SHOW will be their home town of Long Island, NY. en dan nog een van de mannen zelf die staat op myspace: Yo, it was a totally great time and we were honored to be asked to play FTD's last shows. Forward to death is a great band and even though they were around a relatively short time, they made an impact and put out some great music. They also are proof that despite what others say, Hardcore is not dead. While I'll readily admit to the oldest scenester going that the music industry is flooded with watered down, palatable for the masses, milque-toast versions punk and hardcore...the line is drawn right there. Yes, there are way more posers than there are the real deal. But anyone who was hanging out in Tom's river on November 4th got to see a real hardcore show. With all the energy and teen angst 5 bucks can buy. Is hardcore safer than it was in 1986? Definitley. Is it mimicking a time that once was? Absolutley. But one thing never changes. The more the mainstream tries so suck everything up and make it tame, there is always 50 kids in every town who want something else and are willing to work hard to bring underground music to their town. For every 1,000 kids who get into Fallout boy, there is 100 of those kids who eventually see how lame that shit is and look for something harder, faster, and louder...and with something important to say. So while bands like KYI and FTD are breaking up, other bands are starting and carrying the torch. Check out SPLITTING HEADACHE, a new band with members from FTD. And while I'm at it, I'll shamelessly plug my own band, DEATHCYCLE, who will be playing a bunch of shows coming up. Check us out, we are in the top 24 on this page. Final KYI releases and shows to be posted soon. -Gary KYI
