Guns up! - Outlive

Guns up! is the newest hype in hardcore land. The band from Merrimack Valley, US has toured with Rise and fall and Panic among many others and was pin pointed by many hardcore devotees as the ‘next’ thing. Guns up! claims to be influenced by bands like ‘Cro-mags’ as well as metalbands like ‘Obituary’ and ‘Megadeth’. After a lot of listening I can’t find any trace of those metal bands to be honest. Guns up! plays the harder kind of hardcore that doesn’t really remind me of another band, but sounds so damn angry. The scream in ‘Won’t change for me’ is one of the coolest I’ve heard in a long, long time. ‘Outlive’, ‘You break’, ‘Frozen’ and ‘Losing sight’ are just some of the reasons why my room looks a little different than usual and why my fists are bruised and my wall has a hole in it… (hmm…) This is gonna sound weird, but the vocals kinda remind me of Pat Backfire! at times, listen to ‘Spitting Words’ and you’ll know what I mean. I’ve really enjoyed listening to ‘Outlive’ because it sounds ‘hardcore’. The production is great, but not ‘to’ great, not metal, ya know? It sounds like a hard hardcore should sound!
