Comeback kid - Broadcasting

15 februari 2007
Talking about a hyped band... Comeback kid had to be thé band of 2005-2006 with 'Wake the dead'. I never really got into their second record. I really liked the title-track and thinking about it makes me wanna listen to it again and again...but the rest of the record wasn't on the same level as that one song...that was a shame... I'd rather listen to their debut 'Turn it around', which was a great album. 'Broadcasting' is the most important record for Comeback kid. Will they manage to grow? Will they please the kids/The media? The answer is yes. 2007 isn't the ninetees and I've got to learn to accept hardcore isn't the same as it was 10 years ago. I'm gettin' old... Damn, why does every band sound the same and refuses to use choruses? 'Broadcasting' sounds like a mix of 'Rise against', but more brutal, 'Terror', but more melodic, 'Have heart', but less old-school and don't laugh 'Linkin' park' in the 'cleaner' vocal parts. First of all a big suprise is their 'new' singer...sounds almost exactly as their old one...which is a good thing. The songs...'defeated' is a cool first track, lot's of power and full-on gang vocals, which is CK's biggest selling point. The best song and actually a hardcore song: 'Give'r(reprise)'. Fast and furious, the whole record should've sounded like this buddies! The rest of the material doesn't really cut it for me. I'm a lazy guy and I've got to feel instant satisfaction, I don't have the time or courage to listen to this album a hundred times before getting it...it would be a waste of precious time while I could be listening to 'cool' records, ya know? Fans shouldn't worry to much. You're gonna like 'Broadcasting' even though it'll take you some spins to get into their sound. It doesn't sound easy. I'll think I'll put on another Slapshot record and listen to some real hardcore instead.
