The Blackout formed in 2003 in South Wales and drawing influences from across the board, they combine guitars, screams and drums and vocals.

The band has played shows in and around the UK with the likes of Lostprophets, Funeral for a Friend, Avenged Sevenfold, Reuben, The Used, Dredg, 18 Visions, Thrice and Hidden in Plain View as well as opening up 'Give It a Name Festival' in April 2006. They played on the main stage at The Full Ponty 2007 with the likes of Lostprophets, Reel Big Fish and The Automatic

They were also nominated at the 2006 Kerrang! Awards for Best British Newcomer but lost out to Bring Me the Horizon.

The Blackout released their debut mini album entitled The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout! on October 23, 2006 through Fierce Panda Records and the first single taken from it is Hard Slammin'.

Currently the band are recording their debut album in Long Wave studio in South Wales. The album is expected to be released October 1st 2007. As of May 2007 known working titles for songs for the new album include 'I Know You Are! But What Am I?', 'Spread Legs Not Lies!', 'This Ain't No Seven Minutes I Ever Spent' and 'Prepare For A Wound' (P4AW). A demo of the latter used to be found on the band's Myspace.

The band's myspace background has recently changed to the theme of the next album.

On July 2 it was announced on the operation 4am myspace blog that the album would be released 24th September 2007 and also announced a 13 date UK tour starting 2nd October - Wedgewood Rooms - Portsmouth and finishing 17th October - Rescue Rooms - Nottingham stopping off in their home country for a date in Cardiff - Solus Bar - on the 16th October. Also the band have been doing their own Studio and Album Diaries which are being posted on their youtube page.

According to the bands MySpace, the release date for 'We Are The Dynamite!' has been pushed back to 1st October, the day before their UK tour begins.

'We Are The Dynamite!' is rumoured to feature the artist and close friend of the band Jonathan Ernest on one of the tracks, Ernest is best known for singing on the 2004 Donny Osmond hit "Breeze On By".
