Hiroshima Mon Amour - The Crackdown vs. Hiroshima mon amour: Broken guitars and trashy bars
Hell yeah! Hiroshima mon amour is the new band from Uwe Umbruch, ex-lead singer of the German glam sensations 'The Revolvers' and one of my favo German bands ever! So needless to say I was pretty excited about this one!
First things first, let's start by introducing the other band on the split: 'The Crackdown'. These Canadian rock 'n rollers play straight up streetpunk with lot's of Rose Tattoo influences. Kinda bummed though by hearing another version of RT's 'Nice boys'. There's nothing fancy about their 6 songs. If you like your streetpunk to be traditional and kinda 'same old, same old' (and there's nothing wrong with that!) than The Crackdown is your band! 'No surrender, no regrets' is a very cool song guys!
Hiroshima mon amour is the perfect follow-up to The Revolvers. You know what to expect...glammy guitars, a real 'dolls' attitude and nothing but kick-ass songs. Cool to hear the German track 'Heute hier, morgen tot', it adds that little something extra to their part of the split. Hope to hear more real soon!
The two bands aren't exactly the perfect match, but I'm pretty impressed by both of them in their own league.
Score: 84/100
