Collective Self-Interest (C.S.I.) - Revolt against routine
My compliments for the cool booklet and ditto artwork. Lot’s of bands underestimate the power of cool artwork and a certain image built around your band.
‘Collective self-interest’ was born in the north regions of Holland around 2004 and ‘Revolt against routine’ is the band’s second demo. I do hope some label wants to sign this band, cuz they sure have some potential, if they want to keep this advice in mind:
The singer needs to change his style of vocals, they’re very irritating at times. I’m sorry, but they simply are. I don’t understand one word without reading the lyrics in the booklet. Maybe that’s meant to be like that. If so, smart move, you’ll force the listener to read your words!
‘Freedom and equality’ (nice solo!!), ‘violence’ and ‘is there still a reason’ are pretty cool. I really like the monster-like voice of the backing vocalist! He needs to get more in the picture.
I’d save up some money and visit a decent studio. I’m pretty sure the whole band will benefit. This is one advice I’m giving bands in the ‘demo-fase’, especially if you want to sound like your influences ‘Antidote’, ‘Operation ivy’ and ‘Beans’.
A big thumbs up for the lyrics as well, cool to see some bands that are still politically active.
Cool demo and a band that can still grow a lot! Give these boys a try!!
