This youngster is slowly becoming the better half of his brother Rob of Blood for blood, Ramallah and Sinners and saints fame.
The Ducky boys, since their debut ‘No gettin’ out’, have evolved from a streetpunk-oi kinda band to a strong punkband with a huge rock ‘n roll influence. Mark is listening to a lot of Bruce Springsteen and it shows. Hearing the new ducky boys I was wondering if he could top ‘Three chords and the truth’. You know what? He did.
The production is better, the vocals are better and especially the backing vox are close to perfection. There’s lot’s of diversity..slower tracks, faster tracks, straight forward punkrock, semi-accoustic songs..12 songs that are gonna get Ducky boys and Mark Lind the success they deserve. I have to be honest that the Dirty Water ep is still my favourite among the man’s releases, but this one is getting close. It’s hard to pinpoint a favourite track cuz there isn’t a song that really jumps out…but ‘Charlestown’ is a beautiful 3-minute attempt to write one of the best semi-accoustic punkrock ballads ever.
‘Celebrate’, ‘Bombs away’, ‘Two thieves and a saviour’, ‘Ride’… it’s all rock ‘n roll in it’s purest essence. Listening to this record gives me goosebumps and makes me want to kick back, close my eyes and drift away. I’m recommending this to everybody who wants to hear the best songwriter in today’s scene.
Ducky Boys are gonna get bigger and bigger and you know what, they deserve it!Score: 90/100
